Plunkett: one-day chance
England have called up Liam Plunkett as cover for the first two one-day internationals in South Africa.
The Durham seamer, who was already in England's squad for the Test series against the Proteas in December, will join up with his colleagues on Wednesday.
The five-match one-day series starts in Johannesburg on Friday with the second match at Centurion two days later.
Plunkett, 24, made the most recent of his 27 previous one-day international appearances in July 2007.
England's one-day squad has been hit by a spate of injuries since arriving in South Africa.
Stuart Broad (shoulder), James Anderson (knee), Graeme Swann (chest muscle) and Paul Collingwood (back) were all ruled out of the final warm-up fixture against South Africa A on Tuesday.
"Liam is over here any way and will join us on Wednesday night as cover for the first two ODIs," England media manager James Avery told Reuters.
"By Monday we are hopeful a couple of the bowlers will have regained full fitness and then Liam won't have to travel with us to Cape Town (for the third game).
"But if those players don't come through Liam can stay with us."
