Seamer agrees two-year contract at the County Ground

Derbyshire have completed the signing of veteran pace bowler Steffan Jones on a two-year deal. The 35-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at the County Ground from Somerset, taking 30 wickets in nine matches. The Welshman also chipped in with the bat, scoring two half-centuries down the order during Derbyshire's unsuccessful promotion challenge from Division Two of the LV County Championship. Derbyshire also confirmed that Jones, who has played for Glamorgan, Northamptonshire and Kent in his 12-year career so far, will also take on a role as a bowling coach with the East Midland outfit. Derbyshire head of cricket John Morris said: "Steffan has been an excellent addition to our bowling attack since we brought him in on loan, and we are delighted to have secured his services on a more permanent basis. "Batsmen always know they are in a battle when Steffan is bowling at them, and his excellent level of fitness and professionalism is a fine example to other cricketers."
