Veteran batsman one of several to miss out in ODI squad

The Indian selectors have reacted strongly to missing out on the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy by making a number of changes to the squad for the first two one-day internationals against Australia. With Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh available again after injury, there is no place for veteran Rahul Dravid or Dinesh Karthik while paceman RP Singh and all-rounder Yusuf Pathan are also axed. Ravindra Jadeja and Munaf Patel have been brought in while the uncapped Sudeep Tyagi has been named in the 15-man squad in favour of Abhishek Nayar. The news is particularly harsh on Dravid though, after he was brought in to shore up the batting in South Africa and went on to score some valuable runs, but the selectors have instead kept their faith in Virat Kohli. Sehwag missed the Twenty20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy after undergoing shoulder surgery but has recently proved his form in the current Champions League. Yuvraj was ruled out of the Champions Trophy with a broken finger and although he remains a doubt for the first ODI, the selectors expect him to be fit for the second match. The first of a seven-match series against Australia is scheduled to be held in Baroda on October 25. Squad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Ashish Nehra, Praveen Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Virat Kohli, Amit Mishra, Munaf Patel, Sudeep Tyagi.
