Injury jinx strikes again with Ryder ruled out of Champions Trophy

New Zealand batsman Jesse Ryder has been ruled out of the rest of the Champions Trophy after picking up a groin injury against Sri Lanka on Sunday. The big-hitting opener hurt his left adductor muscle early on in Sunday's Group B clash Johannesburg, and needed a runner in the form of Daryl Tuffey as he completed his innings. Ryder seemed to flourish though and still managed to smash 74 off 58 balls to help the Black Caps to score 315-7 when batting first. News that Ryder will miss the remainder of the tournament will be a big blow to Daniel Vettori's side though, especially as he showcased how dangerous he can be against Sri Lanka. The Black Caps are likely to call in a replacement only if they win the game. A loss against the Asian side is almost certain to put them out of the tournament, meaning no additional player would be required.
