Marcus Trescothick has been named in Somerset's 15-man squad for the Champions Trophy in India.
Trescothick, 33, will be returning to the subcontinent for the first time since leaving England's tour of India in February 2006 due to a stress-related illness.
The problem, which prevents the opening batsman spending protracted time away from home, brought a premature end to his international career.
"Marcus Trescothick is in the squad as ways are sought to enable the former England opener to overcome the problems with travelling abroad to play cricket he has experienced as a result of his stress-related illness," Somerset explained on their official website.
Spin bowling all-rounders Omari Banks and Wes Durston are both included despite not yet having been offered contracts for next season.
Local teenager Jos Buttler has been selected as back-up wicketkeeper to Craig Kieswetter.
David Stiff, Michael Munday, Adam Dibble, Robin Lett and Steffan Jones are the players omitted from the preliminary squad of 20.
Somerset, who qualified by reaching the Twenty20 Cup final, are drawn alongside the Deccan Chargers and Trinidad and Tobago in the initial group phase.
The lucrative tournament, featuring the cream of the domestic T20 crop from around the world, runs from October 8-23 with matches taking place in Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad.
Somerset open their campaign against the Deccan Chargers in Hyderabad on October 10.
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper Matt Prior will not feature for Sussex in their Champions League debut.
England's leading players will get three weeks off in October when the 20-over club competition takes place and Prior has opted to rest ahead of the tour of South Africa, which starts on November 1.
