Shoaib Akhtar has joined Surrey for the final two games of the season after sorting out his visa problems.
The Pakistan fast bowler, 33, arrived at Heathrow last Wednesday but immediately returned home because he did not have the necessary paperwork required to work in the United Kingdom.
But the issue has now been resolved and Shoaib arrived in England in time to participate in a training session at the Oval on Monday morning.
He has been named in Surrey's squad for the LV County Championship fixture against Hampshire, which starts on Tuesday.
"My aim is to take wickets," Shoaib told Surrey TV.
"I will try my level best with short, sweet bursts to get some wickets for Surrey.
"I do need bowling practice and match practice so it's a good platform for me to be out there to help Surrey out."
Surrey currently sit 18 points adrift at the bottom of Division One and must win their last two matches to have any chance of avoiding relegation.
