NatWest Pro40 - Division One
Worcestershire Royals 183-9 Innings Complete (S M Davies 59) v Durham Dynamos 187-2 (M J Di Venuto 101 no, P D Collingwood 65 no)
Durham beat Worcestershire by 8 wkts
A sublime unbeaten 101 from Michael Di Venuto helped Durham romp to an eight-wicket win over champions Worcestershire in their Pro40 clash at New Road.
The Dynamos cruised to a modest target of 184 with 9.4 overs to spare to chalk up their third Pro40 win in five matches and move up to second in the Division One table.
Di Venuto took 98 balls to reach his century, smashing one six and 18 fours while Paul Collingwood contributed with a 55-ball 65 not out, including two sixes and seven fours.
Following the early dismissals of Phil Mustard and Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Di Venuto and Collingwood took centre stage with an unbroken partnership of 141 in 20 overs.
Opener Steve Davies top-scored for the hosts with 59 as Worcestershire made just 183-9 after being put in to bat.
Vikram Solanki, Stephen Moore and Ben Smith all fell early, Moore collecting his sixth duck in his last eight first-class innings when he was caught behind by Mustard off Graham Onions.
The 41-year-old Graeme Hick (35) became the second batsman, behind Graham Gooch, to complete a career tally of 22,000 first-class.
Collingwood had some success with the ball too, taking 2-26 including the scalp of Gareth Andrew, who made a useful 25 and figured in a six-over 38-run stand with Imran Arif.
The result only added to the misery of an injury-hit Royals, who were missing their three frontline seamers Simon Jones, Kabir Ali and Matt Mason and have managed to win just one of their opening four games.
