Hamstring injury forces pace ace out of one-day game

A slight hamstring strain has forced Simon Jones to miss the England Lions match against South Africa on Wednesday. Jones, who has taken 52 wickets in the County Championship this season, was due to team up with England for the first time since the 2005 Ashes triumphs. Injury ended his Ashes series ahead of the final Test in 2005 and the Welshman has been hampered by fitness problems ever since. However, Jones has been in fine form for Worcestershire this season - and the one-day game against the tourists was seen as his chance to force his way in to the final squad for the ICC Champions Trophy. Jones, though, will now miss the match at Leicester, with Gloucestershire's Steve Kirby called up as his replacement.
