Pakistan look to build on opening win

Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik wants an improved performance from his side in the second one-day international against Zimbabwe on Thursday. The hosts won the series opener by 104 runs in Karachi and Malik wants to ensure that is the catalyst for an extended run of positive form. "We are looking forward to giving our best in the next match to extend our lead to 2-0 in the series," he told The News. "I'm quite satisfied with the team's overall performance (in the opening one-dayer) and I am confident that the boys will be even better in Hyderabad." Thursday's fixture at the Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad is the first international match to be played at the venue for 10 years. Pakistan will wait to have a look at the pitch before they announce their starting XI. Malik added: "We will look at the wicket before deciding the combination for the match."
