Glamorgan have ended speculation over the future of Robert Croft by signing the former England spinner up until the end of the 2009 season.
Croft was due to be out of contract at the end of next season, and the arrival of spinning all-rounder Jamie Dalrymple from Middlesex seemed to put the 37-year-old's place in doubt.
However, Glamorgan have rewarded Croft - who is a tenacious batsmen as well as a tricky off-spinner - with a 12-month extension to his current deal.
And Croft, who was named the player of the year for 2007, is delighted to being staying at Sophia Gardens.
He told the club's official site: "I'm very pleased that I will be with Glamorgan until 2009, especially as my ambition and desire is as strong as it has ever been.

"I was very pleased with my personal performances in 2007, especially taking my 1,000th wicket in first-class cricket.
"I've got my sights firmly set on taking many more wickets for the club, as well as continuing to score runs as well.
"I'm also very keen to be part of the Glamorgan side as we turn around our form from the past few seasons and become successful again."
Meanwhile, Glamorgan are believed to be in talks with Rao Iftikhar Anjum about the Pakistan pace bowler becoming their overseas player for 2008.
Iftikhar remains contracted to the PCB despite playing his one and only Test in 2006 - and must wait to find out whether he will keep his central contract.
If he loses his place among Pakistan's 19 contracted players, the 27-year-old will then be free to play in the County Championship.
