Hall: Star performer
Andrew Hall's sterling display with bat and ball took Chandigarh Lions to an eight-run victory over the Delhi Jets on Friday.
The Lions posted 134 all out from their 20 overs in the Indian Cricket League (ICL) opener, with three overseas players scoring solidly.
Hall made 31 not out and then took two for 26 with the ball to inspire Chandigarh to victory.
New Zealanders Hamish Marshall (23) and Chris Cairns (22) also made valuable contributions for the Lions, while Darly Tuffey took three for 16 as the Jets were restricted to 126-6.
Abhishek Sharma and Ali Murtaza took three wickets apiece for Delhi in vain, as Hall quickly struck in the reply.
Opener Taufeeq Umar was the seamer's first victim for two and, despite a brief fightback from Monish Mishra (18), Marvan Atapattu (29) and Abbas Ali (30 not out), Hall eventually dismissed Jai P Yadav (21) to secure victory.
And Abid Nabi was unable to find the firepower to help Ali take Delhi over the line.
