Batsman back in South Africa squad after overcoming knee injury

Herschelle Gibbs has recovered from a knee injury and will be part of South Africa's one-day squad for the remaining ties against New Zealand. Gibbs picked up the injury during the second Test at Centurion and missed Friday's Twenty20 international and the opening ODI in Durban on Sunday, which the Proteas won off the last ball to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. "Shane Jabaar [team physiotherapist] told me that Herschelle came through his fitness test very well and could have played as early as today [Wednesday]," South African coach Mickey Arthur said. Gibbs is now likely to start Friday's match in Port Elizabeth and Sunday's tie in Cape Town, while replacement Morne van Wyk has been released to continue his domestic duties with the Eagles.
