Inzamam-ul-Haq Quotes of the week

Inzamam-ul-Haq made a quiet start to his Yorkshire career on the opening day of the County Championship match against Warwickshire at Scarborough.

The former Pakistan captain is on a short-term contract with the Tykes as a replacement overseas player for compatriot Younus Khan and will play in all their remaining Championship fixtures.

But his contribution was minimal on Wednesday, a neat catch at second slip to dismiss Darren Maddy being the only highlight.

That was the first of four wickets for Matthew Hoggard as Warwickshire were skittled for just 129. Yorkshire then reached 25-0 in reply before bad light ended play early.

Inzamam did not get the opportunity to bat, leaving many of the 2,800 crowd on a cold, windswept day at North Marine Road disappointed.

Freezing cold

"It's not just cold, it's freezing cold," said Inzamam. "I played here in 1992 and it was the same then.

"But it's good, especially after four or five months without cricket. With Younus going, it was a good opportunity for me. It's a good club."

Quiet

Yorkshire captain Darren Gough commented: "He's very quiet. For such a big bloke, he doesn't say much. Younus Khan was totally different. He was a bit louder and spoke very good English.

"He will bring that experience to our middle order. We could have stuck with our own but we showed our intent. If we are going to win the championship at this stage, we have to win games.
