I do wish Inzamam would pack up about defending the honour of a country - it is a game of cricket.
You didn't take to the field, you brought the game into disrepute, so take your punishment - simple as that. It is not a slight on 164 million people; it is a decision in a game of cricket. You were charged with doing 38mph in a 30mph zone - it is nothing to do with millions of other people, it is to do with your decision in a game of cricket, nothing more.
You transgressed the laws, therefore you have been fined. It is a four-match ban, so take it and move on.
If you are going to make comments, you have to know what the laws of the game are and he quite clearly doesn't. The laws of the game were adhered to by umpire Darrell Hair. In his opinion the condition of the ball had changed, therefore according to the laws of the game the ball will be changed and a five run penalty will be applied.
It is then for other people, the people who deal with Darrell Hair, to decide if that condition of the ball charge should be upheld. They have decided not to uphold that charge, but Darrell Hair did his job as an on-field umpire, nothing more. It is nothing to do with 164 million people being affronted.
It is exactly the same as being given out lbw when you, as a batsman, didn't think you were out and saying that you are not walking. Or the same as claiming a catch that is then not given out by the umpires and then refusing to give the ball back. Even if you think the umpire is wrong, he is right, and you deal with it.
There is no grey area, the umpire is always right, even if and when he gets it wrong. Inzamam, you are one of the greatest players the world has ever seen, and a great man, but you have got this one wrong. It is not affront on Pakistan, it is a game of cricket in which you made a mistake.
I thought Inzamam would have been given a suspended sentence. That would have been in keeping with the whole schamozzle. He could have received an eight-match ban, not just four, and that would have been within the rights of the ICC. Whether that would have been right or wrong in anyone's opinion, that is what it is, and get on with it.
There are lots of things in our lives that are wrong, but we get on with it. I don't think that 56 million people in England are affronted by what happens in a cricket match.
Let's go back to when it happened and there were two significant quotes from two of the greatest Pakistani cricketers that have ever played the game, Imran Khan and Javed Miandad. They both said it was wrong not to come back out on to the field.
Go no further than those two icons. What you did was wrong Inzamam, you have been punished, move on. And please stop talking about defending the honour of a nation because it is beyond anybody I have spoken to that millions and millions of people are affronted.
It is a game of cricket, so let's get back to it.
