Nottinghamshire batsman Greg Smith has joined Leicestershire on a two match LV= County Championship loan.

The 26-year-old, who has played nine first-team matches for Notts so far this season, will feature for the Foxes against Kent starting on Sunday, followed by a four-day fixture against Gloucestershire.

Smith previously played for Leicestershire before joining Notts in October 2014.

And Notts director of cricket Mick Newell believes it will be a good move for the right-hander.

He said: “Greg hasn’t featured in our four-day side recently and first-team cricket will be much better preparation for when we do need him.

“He’s put in some good one-day performances in the first and second team, and we’re keen for him to be in good nick in all forms of the game for us.”
