Alastair Cook scored his first century for England for almost two years as the warm-up game against a St Kitts and Nevis XI ended in a draw.
Skipper Cook was 95no overnight after the first day of the two-day game, the opening match of England’s tour of the West Indies, and completed his century within 10 minutes of the second day starting.
But the tourists were frustrated in their pursuit of victory, with the home side holding on at 76-7 in the second innings when the overs ran out.
James Tredwell led the way with three wickets at a cost of 35 runs, while Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid and Mark Wood took one each.
Cook completed his century in 200 balls and immediately retired, on 101no, to give Ian Bell some time at the crease, albeit against a tame bowling attack.
England’s bowlers enjoyed an impressive start to the tour on Monday, bowling the hosts out for just 59 and then limited them to just 76 in the second innings.
As a result of the calibre of the opposition, it has been decided that the next two-day game between the sides will see England bowl for a full 90 overs on Wednesday and bat for the same period on Thursday, regardless of wickets.
Cook's last century for England was his 130 against New Zealand in a Headingley Test match in May 2013.
The first of three Tests against West Indies starts on Monday in Antigua.
