Kyle Coetzer's knock of 128 was in vain as Scotland fell to a 67-run defeat in their Cricket World Cup Associate warm-up match 67-run defeat on Tuesday.

Otago lost the toss and were put into bat by Scotland captain Preston Mommsen and while they failed to see out their 50 overs they managed to amass a total of 361.

Opening batsman Aaron Redmond top-scored for the hosts with 71 while Michael Bracewell (65), Iain Robertson (51) and Derek de Boorder (69) all contributed useful knocks.

In reply, Scotland started well, with Coetzer continuing after the dismissal of opening partner Matthew Cross (27) to score two sixes and 16 boundaries in his 121-ball innings.

Richie Berrington (54) helped to steady the ship at 76 for three in a solid partnership with Coetzer which took Scotland to 186 before his dismissal, but the visitors then struggled to maintain their momentum, eventually being dismissed for 294 from 43.4 overs.

Nick Beard was the pick of the Otago bowlers with figures of 4-54.
