Sky Bet fear historic Ashes whitewash as they slash odds on a 5-0 victory
Bookmakers are starting to fear an England Ashes whitewash, with Sky Bet reporting significant liabilities on a 5-0 result.
The hosts established a 2-0 lead by completing a comprehensive second Test victory on Sunday, with Australia falling 347 runs short in their unlikeliest of chases.
The 5-0 victory has now been cut from 16/1 to 3/1, the shortest price outcome in Sky Bet's Ashes correct score market.
In contrast, Australia are now out from 4/1 to 20/1 to regain the urn and 9/2 to win the third Test at Old Trafford.
No side has come back from a 2-0 deficit since Sir Don Bradman inspired an Aussie comeback back in 1936/37, while England have never enjoyed a whitewash win in the series' 131-year history.
Sky Bet's Ned Brooker said: "We're not quite at the stage of cheering the Aussies, but we would certainly appreciate a drawn Test at Old Trafford to ease the concerns.
"The 5-0 win has attracted over four times the amount of any other potential outcome, and we are starting to regret offering it as one of our Price Boosts."
