Five other famous England Test match victories away from home

England's superb 10-wicket victory over India in the second Test in Mumbai was one of their greatest overseas performances.

Here, we look at some other memorable tour victories of recent times.

2000: Karachi - England beat Pakistan by six wickets

Graham Thorpe defied the onset of darkness, and Pakistan's time-wasting tactics, to lead England to a famous win in a dramatic series conclusion. His unbeaten 64 secured a first series win in Pakistan since 1961-62.

2004: Kingston - England beat West Indies by 10 wickets

Steve Harmison produced one of the great spells of fast bowling, claiming an incredible seven for 12, as West Indies were skittled out for 47 in the second innings of a previously even contest.

2005: Johannesburg - England beat South Africa by 77 runs

A match seemingly destined for a draw suddenly swung England's way on the final day after an inspired display by Matthew Hoggard. It seemed unlikely either side could prevail as South Africa chased a target of 325 in a notional 68 overs, but Hoggard had other ideas and swung the ball in both directions on his way to seven for 61.

2009: Durban - England beat South Africa by an innings & 98 runs

Centuries by Alastair Cook and Ian Bell gave England a commanding first-innings lead and South Africa crumbled in the second innings as Graeme Swann took five for 54 and Stuart Broad four for 43.

2010: Melbourne, England beat Australia by an innings & 157 runs

England destroyed their old adversaries to ensure they would retain the Ashes. James Anderson and Chris Tremlett took four wickets apiece as Australia were dismissed for 98 on day one. Jonathan Trott then hit 168 and four others made half-centuries as England set up victory by claiming a first-innings lead of 415.
