Sri Lanka batsman Thilan Samaraweera is sent to undergo surgery after being hit in the knee by a bullet during the terrorist attack in Lahore. The 32-year-old suffered the injury after gunmen attacked the convoy taking the Sri Lankan team and the match officials to the Gaddafi Stadium for the third day of the second Test. Samaraweera was the worst hit of the players and he was rushed to a private hospital in Colombo after arriving back in Sri Lanka on Wednesday. Young opener Tharanga Paranavitana was also taken to hospital after suffered shrapnel injuries to his chest. Geethanjana Mendis, director general of the Sports Ministry medical unit said: "The boys are all suffering from trauma. But they should all be okay and can get back to cricket in a week to 10 days. "Samaraweera, however, will need further surgery and treatment and he will need more time to recover."
