Australia are ready and pumped for their first taste of action in England, captain Michael Clarke said at their warm-up match in Kent.

On the back of an impressive Test series win in the West Indies, the Aussies are playing their first tour game in Canterbury in a four-day contest and after losing the toss have been put into bat.

Mitchell Johnson, man-of-the-series in the last Ashes, will line up with Peter Siddle and Ryan Harris, plus leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed in the bowling attack.

Chris Rogers, who missed the recent Test matches in the West Indies because of concussion, will open along with Shaun Marsh. Steve Smith, Clarke, Shane Watson and Mitchell Marsh make up the top six, with keeper Brad Haddin at No 7.

With two weeks until the Ashes series starts in Cardiff, Clarke told Sky Sports: "We're very excited to be playing. The boys have trained well and we're just keen to get back and start playing cricket."

Asked about the line-up being an indication of who England can expect to face in Wales, Clarke added: "There are still spots up for grabs. The selectors will obviously watch closely the next two tour games.

"It's a good opportunity for the boys to put their hands up. It's not a bad problem to have at the moment with all 17 guys fit and healthy. Long may that continue.

Regarding the friendly nature of this week's match in Kent, Clarke insisted his team's intensity will be high.

"It's a big part of these games," he said. "We want to push for a win and secondly individuals will want to stand up and grab their opportunities.

England head coach Trevor Bayliss says he is looking forward to be involved in an Ashes series

"We are ready to go and we're here to play proper cricket. We've just played two Tests in the West Indies and so all the rough is well and truly out of our system.

"We're looking to start the tour well and we're just pleased to be in this beautiful country. Having been overseas, it's important for us to adjust to the conditions here."
