'Definitely the most talented and exciting squad I’ve been part of'

Alex Hales says the Nottinghamshire Outlaws have their best-ever chance to win the T20 Blast due to the strength of their squad.
Hales feels the additions of overseas stars Darren Sammy, Brendan Taylor and Vernon Philander this year can fire Notts to only their second Finals Day, and end their quarter-finals curse from the last four years.
“It’s definitely the most talented and exciting squad I’ve been a part of, particularly in Twenty20 cricket,” said Hales. “We always fare pretty well in the group stages but then manage to lose in the quarter-finals.
“Hopefully this year we can put that right and really challenge the teams on Finals Day – if we get there."
Nottinghamshire’s challenge starts against the reigning champions, Birmingham Bears, in front of the Sky cameras at Trent Bridge on Friday.
Hales is hoping a strong performance in that encounter and across the whole tournament can help him earn a permanent spot for England after a winter of being in and out of the side.
“I’m looking forward to this summer and playing ODI cricket against two of the best teams in the world in Australia and New Zealand,” added Hales.
“Hopefully I can get a few games under my belt in the T20 Blast for Notts and find some form leading into it.”
Watch the Nottinghamshire Outlaws take on the Birmingham Bears when Sky Sports’ T20 Blast coverage gets underway live on Sky Sports 2 from 6.30pm on Friday.
