Cricket World Cup: Shane Watson will be fit to bowl in Sunday's warm-up match

Australia all-rounder Shane Watson says he expects to be fully fit for the upcoming World Cup.

Watson had to sit out last weekend’s tri-series final victory over England due to hamstring soreness but is going to play in the warm-up match against India on Sunday.

And the 33-year-old says he will be OK to bowl in the Adelaide match, albeit probably not his full complement.

“I'll be ready to bowl a few overs,” he said. “It won't be bowling 10 overs, but a few overs and getting back into it. I can't wait to get out there. “

Watson added that he only sat out the final last week as a precautionary measure.

"From my history of injuries, if we just give it a little bit more time then I have never had any problems coming back," he said.

“It's normally when I've really pushed it, that I've stirred it up again.

“From previous experience, we were just making sure I gave myself extra time to be all right.”

Four-time World Cup winners Australia will begin their campaign against England on 14 February in Melbourne.

Watson said: “There's definitely more pressure on us playing at home but it's also a big advantage as well, with home support and home conditions.

"It's certainly a big advantage for us knowing these conditions inside out.

"Everyone knows that there's a lot of expectation on us but we have a lot of talent through our whole team and our whole squad.

“I know everyone is very excited to be a part of it and really embrace the expectations that will be on us."

However, the Aussies may yet be hampered by injuries. Captain Michael Clarke is likely to miss the England match and all-rounder James Faulkner has also picked up an injury.

But Watson reported: “I think they are going along as planned at the moment, both Michael and James.

"I know for James it's going to be a bit of a longer period of time to get his side right but I know Michael is continuing to come along really well.”
