Gary Ballance has been warned of his responsibilities as an England player after being pictured topless in a Nottingham bar on Sunday, hours after the drawn first Test with India at Trent Bridge.

The Yorkshire batsman, who made 71 in the game, was with England colleagues and was not breaking team rules.

But head coach Peter Moores is understood to have spoken to Ballance about his conduct as England prepare to face India in the second Test, which gets underway at Lord’s this morning.

"I am aware that some of the England players were caught on camera relaxing after the conclusion of the recent Trent Bridge Test match,” said Moores.

"As the players had been released at the end of the first Test and were not due to meet up to begin preparations for the second Test until Monday evening, and there were no suggestions of impropriety, there is no need for any disciplinary action.

"I will, however, be reminding all players of their responsibilities to uphold the best possible image for England cricket."
