Division Two strugglers Kent have confirmed the signing of South African pace bowler Vernon Philander on a month's loan.
The number two ranked bowler in Test cricket will be available for all forms of the game for Kent until the end of July before he joins up with the Jamaican side for the Caribbean Premier League.
Head coach Jimmy Adams will be hoping that the South African, who averages a hugely impressive 17.13 with the ball in Test cricket, will be able to help turn the county's fortunes around.
"I'm really happy to be here, I hope to help the team to create some great chances and hopefully success. I hope I can use my experience to help the team and also that I can be a good influence in the dressing room," Philander told Kent CCC's official website.
Chairman Graham Johnson was delighted to have Philander sign up at the Spitfire Ground, even if only for a short spell.
"Vernon is an excellent signing for the Club. His Test Match record is remarkable, and we hope he will make a strong contribution to the Kent Spitfires' Friends Life t20 campaign, as well as kick start an improvement in four day results," he said.
