We look back at some of the injuries which have blighted England all-rounder Stuart Broad's career

The comparisons between Stuart Broad and Andrew Flintoff have eased in recent years. However they are beginning to resurface again, albeit for the wrong reasons.

March 2011 - Side-strain
If missing out on England's historic Ashes triumph wasn't bad enough, Broad was to go on and suffer World Cup disappointment later that year when a side-strain cut his campaign short. The Notts star suffered the injury during England's incredible six-run triumph over South Africa, where he took 4-15 to help skittle the Proteas for just 165 when chasing down 171. England's World Cup was brought to an abrupt end in the quarter-final stage by co-hosts Sri Lanka. The injury also prevented Broad from making his Indian Premier League debut with Kings XI Punjab.
September 2011 - Shoulder
Broad suffered his third serious injury of 2011 when a torn shoulder muscle kept him on the sidelines for three months. He sustained the injury during the Lord's ODI against India and, as well as ruling him out of two T20s against West Indies, Broad was forced to sit out the one-day and T20 series in India. Despite fantastic on-field results for England, 2011 was a year to forget for Broad.
February 2012 - Calf
Another tour, another early flight home for Broad. A calf injury was to cut his trip to Sri Lanka short in February 2012, forcing him to miss another England victory, this time in Colombo. For the second year running Broad was forced to give up a lucrative IPL contract as a result of an injury. He returned to action in time for the English summer.
December 2012 - Heel
The latest injury in what is becoming an increasingly lengthy list is threatening to rule Broad out of the one-day leg of England's ongoing tour of India. The seam bowler hurt his heel in the lead up to the four-Test series, perhaps contributing to a loss of form, and re-aggravated the injury when attempting to win back his place for the fourth and final Test at Nagpur. Broad is due to captain the Twenty20 side in two matches against India on December 20 and 22.
