Kent spinner James Tredwell has been added to England's squad as cover for the final two Tests in India.
The Kent off-spinner was due in the country for the limited-overs matches which follow the Test series in December and January.
And it has emerged that England will bring him over as an understudy to Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar for the remaining two Tests.
England seem sure to play two spinners in the final two Tests after Panesar and Swann combined to take 19 wickets in the series-levelling victory in second Test in Mumbai
"Tredwell has performed really well for us," said England coach Andy Flower. "He can make a real impact as a spin bowler.
"He is arriving in Kolkata on December 1 as cover. We have some spinners with the Performance Programme. But Tredwell is a senior spinner and will stay with us for the Tests."
The third Test takes place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata from December 5-9.
Tredwell, 30, has played just one Test to date, against Bangladesh in Dhaka where he took six wickets.
What will the outcome be?
