Surrey fast bowler Stuart Meaker has been called into the England squad for the tour of India as cover for Steven Finn.
Finn pulled up early in the first warm-up match with a thigh injury and Meaker will fly out to join the squad before taking part in the clash with Haryana in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
Meaker enjoyed an excellent 2012 season with Surrey, taking 44 wickets in 10 Division One matches at an average of 22.56, continuing to show the pace that tabbed him as one of the quickest bowlers in the domestic game.
The 23-year-old said on Twitter on Saturday lunchtime: "Looks like I am heading to India #blimey."
Meaker won two caps in the 50-over game in India last year and will return to the England Performance Programme once Finn is available for selection again.
His availability for Thursday's game will depend on being able to get the necessary visa early next week, according to a statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board.
Finn's continuing absence puts serious doubt on him being available for the first Test in Ahmedabad, which starts on 15 November, with Graham Onions and Tim Bresnan possible replacements if he is not fit.
