Former Sri Lanka pace bowler Chaminda Vaas has been taken on as a specialist bowling coach by the New Zealand cricket team as they prepare to tour his homeland.
Vaas picked up 355 wickets in 111 Tests for Sri Lanka before retiring from international cricket last year and he will advise the tourists, working alongside recently-appointed bowling coach Shane Bond.
Black Caps' head coach Mike Hesson believes Northamptonshire's Vaas offers "extensive playing experience in local conditions and will provide valuable input as we plan and prepare for the Test series in Sri Lanka."
New Zealand will play two Tests, five ODI's and one Twenty20 match, which kicks off the tour in Pallekele on 30 October.
Legendary Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan is also expected to work with the New Zealand bowlers during their time on the sub-continent.
