ECB and dropped batsman urged to find 'middle ground' quickly

Jonathan Trott wants the England and Wales Cricket Board to act quickly in deciding if Kevin Pietersen can play for England again. Pietersen was omitted from England's squads for the upcoming one-day internationals and September's World Twenty20 following the texting saga that saw him dropped from the Test side. England coach Andy Flower has said further talks are required to resolve the situation and Trott has urged all parties to get on with those negotiations. "Kev has got his reasons and the ECB have got their own reasons so they need to sort out whatever the middle ground is, draw a line and try to come to a conclusion on whether Kevin plays for England again," he told Sky Sports.

Clarity

"It is up to him what he wants to do and it is up to the ECB how they want to handle it. "I can only speak for the guys in the changing room and myself, and I think everybody wants this sorted out so it is crystal clear where we all stand." Eoin Morgan, who will take on extra responsibility in the middle order in Pietersen's absence, is adamant he would welcome the controversial batsman back into the England changing room. "I would like to Kevin back playing but it is to be settled behind closed doors," he said. "I think whatever needs to be resolved hopefully will be and hopefully we will see Kevin back playing."
