All-rounder leaves Falcons early

All-rounder Garry Park has been released by Derbyshire after being told he was not going to be offered a new contract. His contract was due to expire at the end of this season but he has been released early by mutual consent, the club have confirmed. The 29-year-old, who joined the Falcons at the end of the 2008 season, has made 29 first-class appearances, a further 78 in limited-overs competitions and scored 1,000 County Championship runs in his first season with them. Head coach Karl Krikken said: "I would personally like to thank Garry for his service and commitment to Derbyshire County Cricket Club since his arrival in 2008. "Garry has always given 100 per cent to the cause and has been a popular member of the playing staff. "It goes without saying that everybody connected with the club wishes him all the very best in his future pursuits."
