Former Zimbabwe captain Tatenda Taibu has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect.
Taibu has not played top level cricket since injuring his finger against New Zealand in February, but was on Monday included in Zimbabwe's provisional squad for September's World Twenty20.
However, the 29-year-old has decided to call time on his career in order to focus on working in the church.
"I just feel that my true calling now lies in doing the Lord's work, and although I am fortunate and proud to have played for my country, the time has come for me to put my entire focus on that part of my life," he said.
Taibu made his international debut aged 18 in 2001 and became the youngest Test captain when he skippered Zimbabwe at 20.
His career was marred by a few disagreements with Zimbabwe Cricket but on the field he was always one of the country's top performers.
The Harare-born player ends his 28-Test career with a batting average of 30.31, while after 150 ODIs he walks away with an average of 29.25.
