England v West Indies, September 25
England's impressive summer finished in disappointing fashion with a 25-run defeat to the West Indies in an international Twenty20 contest at The Kia Oval. England were bowled out for 88 - their lowest ever T20 total.
England v India, October 14
England were blown away by India after losing the first game of the five-match series by 126 runs at Hyderabad. Captain Alastair Cook led by example with 60 but from 111 for two in the 23rd over, the opener's departure prompted a collapse to 174 all out from the first ball of the 37th over.
England v India, October 17
India were again too good for England in Delhi. The tourists' 237 never seemed like enough to win the game. India duo Virat Kohli (112 not out) and Gautam Gambhir (84no) shared a record unbroken 209-run partnership to guide the hosts to a crushing eight-wicket victory.
England v India, October 20
England lost their fourth game in a row as India again proved too good for the tourists in Mohali. Ajinkya Rahane scored 91 and Gambhir 58 in a five-wicket win which wrapped up the series - and England's misery was compounded the following day when bowler Tim Bresnan was fined 7.5% of his match fee for showing dissent towards an umpire.

Bresnan top-scored with 45 but Indian bowling duo Ravichandran Ashwin and seamer Varun Aaron destroyed England, taking three wickets each in a six-wicket success. Kohli scored 86no and Suresh Raina 80 in a fourth-wicket stand of 131 as the Mumbai contest was decided after just 40.1 overs.

England's one-day series ended in a whitewash and their sixth successive defeat after India won by 95 runs in Kolkata. After being set a target of 272, England were cruising at 129 without loss in the 21st over but were bowled out for 176 in 37 overs.

Kevin Pietersen defied any pain from his broken thumb to help England beat India for the first time at the sixth attempt and keep their new-found Twenty20 world number one status intact. Pietersen scored 53 to set up a six-wicket success in a one-off match in Kolkata, after Steven Finn, Bresnan and Ravi Bopara had shared seven wickets.
Pakistan v England, January 19
England slipped to defeat inside three days after a second successive batting collapse against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The tourists fell alarmingly short of their billing in their first series as world Test number ones as they lost this first match of three by 10 wickets.

Having earned a first-innings lead and then bowled out Pakistan quickly to leave themselves with a target of 145 for victory, England appeared to be in a strong position. But a thorough batting collapse saw the tourists fail to even achieve half that total, bowled out for 72, with the final five wickets falling for just four runs.
