Former skipper back in Bangladesh Test fold

Mohammad Ashraful has been recalled by Bangladesh for the two-Test series against Pakistan. Ashraful was left out of the side for the one-day series and also missed the Tests against West Indies in October, but has earned a recall with his runs in domestic competition. He will come into the middle-order in place of Raqibul Hasan. Imrul Kayes is ruled out by a groin injury and replaced by Nazimuddin, who has seven one-day international caps to his name but is yet to make his Test debut.

Class

Chief selector Akram Khan said: "We all know Ashraful is a class batsman but he was not scoring runs consistently. He has got back his form and consistency, so we recalled him. "We tried Roqibul in Ashraful's position in the previous series but he could not impress us." Pace bowler Robiul Islam is back in the squad as back-up for Shahadat Hossain, who has been struggling with fitness problems. The first Test gets under way on Friday in Chittagong, with the second Test due in Dhaka starting on December 17.
