Allenby sticking with Glamorgan

All-rounder signs contract extension at SWALEC Stadium

Jim Allenby: Staying with Glamorgan for at least two more seasons

Jim Allenby has agreed a contract extension with Glamorgan which will keep him at the Welsh county until the end of 2013, with a further option for 2014.

The 29-year-old Australian all-rounder will captain Glamorgan's Twenty20 side, newly named the Welsh Dragons, in 2012 and be the club's vice-captain in other formats.

Speaking on his new deal, Allenby, who joined Glamorgan from Leicestershire in 2009, said: "I'm delighted to commit myself to Glamorgan Cricket for the long-term.

"It's very heartening to see the healthy uptake in the club's membership for 2012, and I'm really looking forward to leading the Welsh Dragons in the Friends Life t20 competition in 2012, as well as acting as second-in-command to club captain Mark Wallace in the LV= County Championship and the Clydesdale Bank 40."

Glamorgan managing director of cricket Colin Metson said: "Jim is an integral part of the Glamorgan team and we are delighted that he has made this commitment to Glamorgan Cricket for the foreseeable future."
