Pakistan wicketkeeper snubbed by Pakistan Cricket Board

Wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal and former captain Shahid Afridi have not been given new central contracts by the Pakistan Cricket Board. Akmal had fallen out of favour with selectors following Pakistan's World Cup campaign and now looks to have been cut out of the international picture completely. However, the 29-year-old still believes he can revive his career at the highest level by showing good form in domestic cricket. "I am disappointed but I just need to keep on playing domestic cricket and prove my form to the selectors and board," Akmal told Reuters. Afridi announced his retirement from international cricket following a spat with the PCB and it is no surprise that his central contract has not been renewed having already been suspended. Experienced players Shoaib Malik and Danish Kaneria - both of whom are still under scrutiny from the PCB's integrity committee - also missed out on contracts along with Mohammad Yousuf. Contracted players: Category A: Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Umar Gul, Mohammad Hafeez, Saeed Ajmal, Abdul Rehman. Category B: Abdul Razzaq, Imran Farhat, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Akmal, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, Wahab Riaz, Taufeeq Umar. Category C: Junaid Khan, Tanvir Ahmed, Hammad Azam, Safraz Ahmed, Sohail Khan, Adnan Akmal, Yasir Shah, Ramiz Raja, Sharjeel Khan. Stipends: Mohammad Talha, Aizaz Cheema, Zulfiqar Babar, Raza Hasan, Mohammad Ayub Dogar.
