Ian Blackwell has committed his future to Durham by signing a two-year contract extension.

The all-rounder joined in 2008 from Somerset and helped his new county win the LV County Championship title in his first season at Chester-le-Street.

His new deal will now see the 33-year-old, who started his first-class career with Derbyshire, remain with Durham until the end of the 2013 campaign.

Blackwell has played in played one Test and 34 one-day internationals for England but has not played international cricket since April 2006.

"I've really enjoyed playing in such a competitive side especially having really settled at the club during my time here," Blackwell told the county's official website.

"There's real ambition within the squad and after winning the Championship once with Durham already I definitely want to be making even more of an impact as we look to secure more success over the coming years."
