Newcomer looking forward to MCG atmosphere

Australia batsman Aaron Finch is hoping for the chance to continue his fledgling international career on his home ground at the MCG. The Victorian made his debut in Australia's one-wicket defeat to England in the opening Twenty20 in Adelaide on Wednesday, contributing 15 not out to a total of 157-4. It was another debutant, England's Chris Woakes, who had the final say when he hit the winning single from the last delivery of the match. But Finch, who spent a season with Clifton Alliance CC in the York and District Senior League in 2009, remains undeterred and is eager for another opportunity in the series decider in Melbourne.

Buzz

"Obviously I'm very excited at the prospect," said the 24-year-old. "Hopefully the weather stays away and we can get a game in. With 50 or 60,000 people there it would be a fantastic experience to play in front of that many people on my home ground." On the Adelaide defeat, he added: "I don't think we played all that well during the whole game. To come up that close was promising - a lot can be taken out of that. "It was a real buzz - something I've always been looking forward to. Unfortunately we couldn't come away with the points, but hopefully on Friday night we can." While he is a newcomer, Finch was quizzed on whether he thought England's dominance throughout the winter had started to affect the home side's approach. "With some new players coming into the team for the shorter format of the game, I don't think there's too much baggage there," said Finch. "You just try to win every game regardless of what format, or who it is against. It's another opportunity to win a cricket game. "At the end of the day that's what everyone is here to do and that's what the public want to see from Australia."
Familiar
Making Finch's transition from domestic to international level easier has been the presence of his Bushrangers colleagues Cameron White, David Hussey and James Pattinson. "It does definitely help having guys like Whitey, Huss there and James Pattinson - guys I've played with for a number of years now," he continued. Rising star Pattinson is tipped to be handed an international bow at the expense of Shaun Tait or Brett Lee, both of whom were expensive in Adelaide.
