Seamer Charlie Shreck has signed a new two-year contract to keep him at Nottinghamshire until the end of the 2012 season.
The 32-year-old, twice named the county's player of the season, endured a frustrating 2010.
Although Nottinghamshire won the County Championship, Shreck was sidelined for a part of the campaign through injury and is still working to regain full fitness.
But Notts director of cricket Mick Newell is delighted to have retained the services of the 6ft 7in paceman and believes he can play a key role in their County Championship defence in 2011.
"Charlie has made good progress in the off-season and we intend to find some overseas cricket for him in the New Year to help him achieve match fitness," stated Newell.
"His one day appearances will be limited because our intention is to keep him fresh for our championship matches."
