Opening batsman Tamim Iqbal will miss Bangladesh's one-day series against New Zealand after undergoing wrist surgery.
Tamim had bone fragments removed from the base of the third metacarpal of his left hand in Melbourne on September 13.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board described the procedure as "successful".
Shahriar Nafees has been recalled to Bangladesh's squad after a two-year absence to replace Tamim for the five-match series with the Black Caps, which runs from October 5-17 with all the games taking place at Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
There is no place for former skipper Mohammad Ashraful in the Tigers' 14-man party.
Pont appointed
Meanwhile, Ian Pont has been appointed as Bangladesh's bowling coach after former South Africa all-rounder Lance Klusener declined the role.
Englishman Pont performed the same role for the Netherlands for two years up until the 2007 World Cup.
The 49-year-old, who played for Nottinghamshire and Essex in his county career, is the author of the coaching manual 'The Fast Bowler's Bible'.
"He has accepted our offer and obtained a visa. Hopefully he will be in Dhaka on Thursday," said BCB spokesman Jalal Yunus said.
The BCB offered the job to Klusener last month but he turned it down citing family reasons.
