Broad, Swann and Cook also free to play for counties on Saturday

Kevin Pietersen and three England team-mates have been released to play for their counties on Friends Provident t20 finals day. Nottinghamshire duo Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann and Alastair Cook of Essex have also been made available for the tournament's conclusion on Saturday. All four players are then expected to return to the England set-up on Sunday ahead of the third Test with Pakistan the following week. Despite being granted permission to play for Hampshire, Pietersen is far from certain to be picked after announcing he would leave the county at the end of the season.

Doubt

Although Pietersen's participation is in doubt, Nottinghamshire and Essex seem set to include their internationals players. "We will select the best players available to us, and Stuart and Graeme will add significant strength to our team," Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell said. "We've used a lot of players to get to finals day and everyone has made a good contribution. "I'll talk to the players who will have to make way for Stuart and Graeme. But everyone understands we will pick the team that will give us the best possible chance of winning the match and progressing to the final."
