Pakistan confident recalled batsman will play at Edgbaston
Recalled Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf is set to arrive in the UK less than 24 hours before the start of the second Test with England at Edgbaston on Friday.
Yousuf ended a brief retirement from international cricket after being called up following Pakistan's dismal batting display in their first Test defeat at Trent Bridge.
But the 35-year-old former captain's return to the squad was delayed as he did not have the correct visa to travel to England as a player.
However, a Pakistan spokesman has now said the administrative issues are resolved and Yousuf has the appropriate documentation.
"He has the visa. The administrative delay has been overcome," the spokesman said.
Pakistan are therefore confident that Yousuf, who had a life ban from the team overturned earlier this year, will be able to play at Edgbaston.
However, his late arrival - expected around 12.30pm on Thursday - will raise questions over his readiness for competitive action.
