Kevin Pietersen will miss England's three-match NatWest Series against Bangladesh because of the thigh injury he suffered in the 42-run defeat to Australia at Lord's.
Pietersen, who was dismissed for a duck on Saturday, picked up his injury whilst fielding.
On Sunday morning he was replaced, in a 13-man squad for the series which starts at Trent Bridge on Thursday, by Jonathan Trott - while Graeme Swann is to be rested, with James Tredwell providing a like-for-like replacement for the off-spinner.
Pietersen is to undergo further assessment of the injury in his left leg this week but seems certain to require a short rehabilitation period - which has therefore ruled him out of the ODI campaign against Bangladesh.
Swann, who has become a constant for England in all formats of the game, will be available to Nottinghamshire for LV= County Championship cricket to help him prepare for the forthcoming Test series against Pakistan.
There is no place among the 13-man party for left-arm seamer Ryan Sidebottom who was in the squad which claimed a 3-2 series victory over Australia, but did not play in a team which remained unchanged throughout.

National selector Geoff Miller said of Pietersen: "It's unfortunate that Kevin Pietersen has suffered an injury - and although we'll know the full extent in due course, it looks like he'll be able to make a full recovery very quickly.
"Graeme Swann has been involved in all forms of the game for some time now, and this forthcoming period has been identified as the best opportunity to ensure he has a suitable break before a demanding schedule this summer and during the winter.
"James Tredwell and Jonathan Trott have previously been involved with the England one-day set-up and will be excellent additions to the full England squad from the England Lions.
"Both have been in good form for the Lions and will relish the opportunity to make their mark in limited overs at the top level."
England head into the series on the back of victory over the world's number one team, although they will feel some of the momentum they had built up will have been lost after defeats in the closing two matches against the Australians.
Miller nonetheless added: "There was a lot to like about the cricket we played against Australia, and the team will be looking to build on this against Bangladesh."
