Pakistan lose injured duo for title defence

Fast bowlers Umar Gul and Yasir Arafat have been ruled out of Pakistan's ICC World Twenty20 defence. Gul, the leading wicket taker in T20 internationals, is sidelined by a shoulder injury, while Arafat has failed to overcome a calf problem. "They are very good at this form of the sport and proven performers but we have to manage with the players we have," said Pakistan coach Waqar Younis. Experienced seamer Mohammad Sami and uncapped paceman Mohammad Irfan had originally been named as replacements. However it was later confirmed that Irfan would not be part of Pakistan's 15-man squad, with left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman picked instead. The World Twenty20 takes place in West Indies from April 30-May 16. Pakistan are drawn in Group A alongside Australia and Bangladesh.
