VVS Laxman has been included in the India squad for the final Test against South Africa in Kolkata on Sunday.
The experienced batsmen had been due to compete in the first match, but the 35-year-old failed to recover from a finger injury sustained in the tour of Bangladesh.
Laxman now returns to a side which is under huge pressure to level the series, with anything less than a victory resulting in India being knocked off the top of the ICC's Test rankings.
And, after an innings and six-run defeat in Nagpur, the right-hander will be expected to slot straight back into run-scoring form.
Hyderabad-born Laxman has scored just under 7,000 runs in 109 Tests - highlighting his importance to the team.
Wriddhiman Saha is the unfortunate player to have been dropped by chairman of selectors Krishnamachari Srikkanth, with Dinesh Karthik making up the 15-man squad.
The decisive second Test is due to commence on Sunday at Eden Gardens.
