Shahzad and Brophy commit to Yorkshire

Ajmal Shahzad and Gerard Brophy have both signed new contracts with Yorkshire. Paceman Shahzad, 24, has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal after scooping the Players' Player of the Year award in 2009. Shahzad, the first British-born Asian to play for Yorkshire, had been the subject of interest from Worcestershire but has ended speculation about his future by committing to the Tykes. Wicketkeeper Brophy, 33, has signed up for two further years at Headingley Carnegie having spent the past four seasons with the club. Meanwhile, youngsters Gary Ballance and Oliver Hannon-Dalby have followed England Under 19 paceman James Lee in agreeing three-year professional deals with the White Rose county, while seamer Ben Sanderson has been handed a two-year contract.
