ICC grant permission for Australia to make injury replacement

New South Wales left-arm seamer Doug Bollinger has joined Australia's ICC Champions Trophy squad as a replacement for Nathan Bracken. Bracken was ruled out of the tournament in South Africa due to a knee problem and the ICC's technical committee has now ratified Bollinger as his replacement. Bollinger has played just three one-day internationals all of which came during Australia's series against Pakistan in United Arab Emirates earlier this year. The 28-year-old is available to play in Australia's first game of their Champions Trophy defence against West Indies in Johannesburg on Saturday. Meanwhile, Australia vice-captain Michael Clarke will miss the match against West Indies. Clarke suffered back pain on the flight to South Africa and is to sit out Saturday's match at the Wanderers as a precautionary measure. "We are assessing Michael day by day and and there is improvement, but taking the whole tournament into consideration we have adopted a conservative approach and he will not play tomorrow," a team spokesman said.
