Worcestershire could lose another key payer

Worcestershire have been dealt another blow after former England paceman Kabir Ali requested to speak to other counties. Kabir still has a year remaining on his current contract but would like to explore other possible options. The county have already lost young wicketkeeper Steve Davies and spinner Gareth Batty, who will both leave at the end of the current campaign after signing three-year deals with Surrey. Opener Stephen Moore is also considering whether or not to activate a get-out clause in the contract he signed last summer. Worcestershire chief executive Mark Newton confirmed that Kabir wants to speak to other counties and said that the request will be dealt with on Monday evening. "I can confirm we have received a request from Kabir for permission to speak to other counties," he said. "We are due to meet Kabir and his representative on Monday and the matter will be discussed at a board meeting on Monday evening." The 28-year-old bowler has been with the Royals for over 10 years, taking in excess of 400 first-class wickets during that period. But after an injury-hit campaign this year it is understood he believes a move away from Worcestershire may reignite his international career.
