Australia all-rounder Andrew McDonald has left the Ashes tour to spend the next week with his heavily-pregnant wife.
The 28-year-old has not featured for his country in the current series despite an impressive showing in the recent tour match against Northamptonshire.
A team spokesman has said that he left the squad's hotel in Leeds on Friday to return home and await the birth of his first child.
However, he is set to fly back to England on August 13 so that he can be available for the tour match against Kent, which begins on August 15.
The fifth Ashes Test gets underway on August 20 at The Oval.
