Seamer Chaminda Vaas has been called into Sri Lanka's squad for the third and final Test match against Pakistan, an official said on Friday. Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Nishantha Ranatunga said the 110-Test veteran, who was overlooked for the first two Tests, has been recalled to a 16-man squad for a match at the Sinhalese Sports Club - with the pitch and conditions expected to assist seam bowlers. The surprise move comes only weeks after the bowler had rowed with chief selector Ashantha de Mel, who announced that Vaas would retire from Test cricket. An angry Vaas told the media later that he had no intention of retiring soon. The 35-year-old left arm seamer has taken 354 Test wickets. Sri Lanka has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the test series, its first series win against Pakistan at home. Ace spinner Muttiah Muralitharan will be out of the third Test too after being sidelined for the first two matches due to a knee injury.
